I took my battery out this winter for charging. Just for kicks, I didn't re-install the tool box bracket (step 5 above). It just seemed like such a pain in the ass to get access to the battery.
You can still place and lock the chrome plastic tool kit cover (with tool kit in it) without this bracket.
So far, I haven't had a problem without this clunky bracket and I feel that the battery is much more accessible if I want at it quick.
